Sun is the main and natural source of light and energy. Sun is very important and we have many benefits of it but it also cause some harmful effects on our health and skin. Sun produceĀ UV (ultraviolet rays). There are two types of UV rays, UVA (long wave, or black light) and UVB (medium wave). UVA rays penetrate deep into the skin. We have many advantages and disadvantages of UV rays. UVB exposure induces the production of Vitamin D in the skin as well as it has antiseptic properties. Too little UVB radiation leads to a lack of Vitamin D and too much UVB radiation leads to direct DNA damage, sunburn, and skin cancer. Both UVA and UVB destroy Vitamin A in skin. They can damage collagenĀ fibers and thereby accelerate aging of the skin.
We can define the sun damaged skin as the skin type which is quickly and highly effected by sun radiations.
